“Kelangan kong kong i-prove talaga, kelangan matanggap ng bawat isa kung sinong panalo, kung sinong talo (I really need to prove it this time, and each of us will need to accept who’s the winner, who’s the loser),” said the Filipino boxing icon during the kick off of his global press tour for the 3rd Marquez fight.
The Filipino champion reacted to Marquez’s claim that the latter won both of their previous fights.
The two first clashed in a 2004 bout that ended in a controversial draw.
In their 2008 rematch, Pacquiao pulled off a split decision against Marquez.
“Marquez claimed he won the two fights, I simply won’t let that happen [this time],” said Pacquiao.
The Pacquiao versus Marquez press tour will continue in New York and Los Angeles before wrapping it up in Mexico.
Pacquiao thinks the 38-year-old Marquez remains to be a potent fighter despite his age.
“In his last fight, he knocked his opponent out in the first round. He’s still very strong,” said the Filipino champion.
